Mary Lou Retton and Me By: Marlee
Mary Lou Retton is my hero. I think I'll be the next Mary Lou Retton because I'm only ten years old, and I'm on a high school squad. I can already do more than they can. I think that Mary Lou Retton is the best gymnast ever. I've been have trouble with my "ful" which is a straight legged back flip. To do this move, you have to twist right or left in the air at the end. Don't try this without a spot. My friend just tried it and broke her arm. I hope that when I meet Mary Lou Retton she will help me with it. Then, maybe I'll get it. I almost have it, but I'm doing a half. I had a dream that she did come in and help me on it. After she got done teaching me, I got to talk to her and her girls. She said I was a really good cheerleader, and she asked me if I wanted her to be my cheerleading coach. So I said, "Yes, most definitely." So I asked her where I would have to go for her to be my coach and she said at the Aerial Port with my and my girls. In my dream, I kept working with Mary Lou and her girls and I finally got my ful. Mary Lou, her girls, and I did them together, and she taught me some other things. We became friends and did gymnastics together. Maybe someday I will get to meet her, and go to a competition with her girls.
