Lights Out! By: Michael

Have you ever not had electricity? It's very scary not to have electricity. It's really hard to get around with no light or anything. When my dad and I didn't have electricity, we had to use flashlights and candles. It's really boring not to have any electricity. You can't do anything when there's no lights. It's not exciting because you can't see walking around. You can't watch television because the TV is hooked to the electric and it went off. People in the area of Fairview had no electricity, so they had no heat. Of course, they would think that it is too cold. My dad and I stayed by the wood stove because that's where all the light was coming from. To stay warm, we covered up with blankets. You can not play any fun activities. There's no Playstation. When there's no electricity, you can't go outside because it would be dark at night, and there are no street lights. To cook, my dad and I just cooked on the wood burner. It is no fun with no electricity.

Michael, I never really thought about how dependent we are on electricity. We are so used to having it, we take it for granted. I'm glad you had a wood stove!

We know what you went through. We have all been through times without electricity. We didn't like it either. Your story was realistic and amazing. We wonder why your electricity was off. Keep up the good writing. Write us some more stories to read.

Michael,
Yes, it can be tough without electricity. When we lose our power, we like to get flashlights and read or play flashlight tag. :)

Hi Michael, We are all way too dependent on electricity----me included. I miss my tv shows when the electricity goes out. It also gets really cold when it's in the winter or really hot in the summer.
Next time it happens---try getting out a board game and play by flashlight. It's fun.
