Fred By: Thomas
One day, I was walking, and I saw a turtle. I picked it up and took it home. I asked my mom if I could keep it. She said "yes". I put it in a box and put grass in the box. I named him Fred. I play with Fred all day. I take him out of his box, and he walks around the yard. I feed him three times a day. Fred is an every day turtle. Fred is a box turtle. Box turtles are usually yellow and brown. Box turtles are easy to find if you know where to look. He is two inches wide, and one inch tall. One day, he kept trying to get out. My mom said that he probably missed his old habitat. So I kept him for one more day, but he still tried to get out. I did not want to take him back where I found him. I would miss him. But, sometimes you have to do things like that. He probably missed his old family. So, I walked all the way to where I found him. I took him in the box with me. My sister and I took turns carrying Fred. I let him go. I asked my mom if I could visit Fred and she said "yes". I miss Fred.

Dear Thomas,
I enjoyed reading about Fred. How nice that you had a pet turtle even if he did get homesick and you let him go. You had a friend.
