Every Thanksgiving By: Sarah
Every Thanksgiving my family gathers together. Most of my family lives close to me. But, Donna, Brady, and Tayler come from Florida so they can see us for Thanksgiving. We go to Bigpap's house for Thanksgiving to eat. We all are busy. The mothers and grandmothers cook, the girls set the table, and the boys, dads, and paps watch television until it's time to eat. We eat potatoes, ham, turkey, corn, salad, and sauerkraut. The sauerkraut is my favorite. The kids eat at a separate table. Since we have more parents than kids, the parents get the big table. That's what we do for Thankgiving. I love gathering around at Thankgiving with my family.
The Day of Thanks By: Matthew H.
There are many things I'm thankful for at Thanksgiving. My family members get together to eat at Thanksgiving. They don't have to travel far because they live near the airport in Fairmont. What I like about Thanksgiving is helping my grandma make Thanksgiving dinner. My grandma told me that I'm the only one that likes to help her cook. I also like to watch the dog show and the Macy's Thankgiving Day parade with my mom, dad, sister, nephew, grandma, Uncle George, and Aunt Clydeen. My favorite food is the turkey and pumpkin pie. The day after Thanksgiving, my mom, dad, grandma, and I go bowling at the Fairmont Bowling Alley. I always win, but this year, I'm going to let my grandma win. She won a bowling trophy when she was on a bowling team. Being with my family makes me happy because I don't get to see them a lot. For that, I am truly thankful!
My Horse Dancer By: Owen
One day, I was outside with my brother. Then I saw a horse in the barn. I went over to Mom and Dad wondering why we had a horse instead of cows. Mom and Dad said we gave the cows away. We all went over to the horse. I looked at it, and it looked nice. Two weeks later, we rode the horse. After we rode the horse, I asked Mom, "What's its name?" Mom said, "It's name is Dancer." I petted the horse. Later, we went inside and went to bed. The next day, I woke up to feed and water the horse. I couldn't find Dancer anywhere! Something ran right behind me. I turned around and Dancer was in front of my face. I tried to put her back, but she ran in the field away on the side of the road. I went inside and got Mom, Dad, and my brothers. We got in the car and chased the horse. Our first stop was the Fairview Diner. We asked them if they had seen the horse. They said it went towards the Dairy Mart. We went to the Dairy Mart. They said it went to the school, so we went to the school. The horse was on the playground. Mom got the horse and jumped on it. Mom said, "Good, we got the horse!" Mom rode the horse back, but me, Dad, and my brothers drove in the car. Finally, we put the horse back, turned on the electric fence, and shut the gate. Dancer never got away again.
Boots the Guinea Pig By: Tessa
When I was six years old, my mema bought me a guinea pig. His name was Boots. My guinea pig was light brown and white. He ate guinea pig pet food, carrots, and dry corn. He slept and then ate. He did that a lot! Boots had a plastic ball with a door that guinea pigs are supposed to walk or run in. He would not move in it, but he actually slept in it! When it was just me and we were outside playing, he did make it move. I think he wanted to get my attention. Boots was a good boy, but some dogs ate him. I saw him die, and it was sad. I buried him in the woods. I was sad for three days. I was sad until my daddy got home, and he found a little stray cat. I was so glad.

My Lost Teddy Bear By: Ashley
This is something that I will always remember. I got a teddy bear from my Uncle Skip when he was in Las Vegas. It is brown with a red shirt on. I would squeeze it and hug and kiss it. I even put it in my baby stroller and wrapped it up in a baby blanket. It was fun to take it all over my house. Sometimes I would take it to church. Then one day, my teddy bear was missing. I was sad. I was scared because I lost my favorite teddy bear. I had never lost my teddy bear before. I looked all over the place. My mom, dad, and my sister, Brooke, all helped me try to find it. I will always remember the day I lost my teddy bear. It was terrible because I could not find my favorite teddy bear. Then, I found it. My mommy forgot that it was packed away in a box when we were moving. I was so happy to finally find my teddy bear. I was happy and know not to ever lose my teddy bear again. I have it on my bed every day so I don't lose it. I kiss it goodbye every day, and I sleep with it every night.
Smoky the Cat By: Cliffy
I had a cat named Smokey. I would take Smoky for walks and he would chase dogs and birds. He loved to eat fish. He had gray fur and a little bit of orange. Smoky had nine whiskers. I bought a wind up mouse and a scratching post for him. When he was thirsty, I got him some milk. My cat and I would go outside and sit in the shade. I would find a good stick and tie a piece of yarn to it so Smoky and I could play with it for a little bit. That night when we went to bed, Smoky was fine. When I woke up the next morning, I went to go take Smoky for a walk, but he would not move. It looked like he was sick, but I was not sure. I brought him three more toys. He just sat down and started to shake. I did not know what to do. I told my mom. She said we should take him to the vet, so my sister and I got in the van. Finally, we got to the vet. We had to leave Smoky there for a day. The next day, we went to get Smoky. He was fine and more playful than ever! We went home, and I caught him some fish from the pond by my house, and got him some more toys. But then he ran away and got run over by the mail lady. I will always remember Smoky as a nice little cat.
The Great Vacation By: Kaity
I have a dog, and her name is Patchy. She belongs to me and my sister. Our dog is only one year old. We had a lot of changes with it. It was a lot of fun, until we had to pack for vacation. We packed all our belongings, including Patchy, and we were on our way to an amusement park and campsite in Pennsylvania. It was twenty miles till we got there. That's why my mom packed a lunch for us. We ate all of it. Then we saw a Yogi Bear sign. We shouted, "Whoooooo!" We jumped out of the car. Dad asked, "What do you want to do first?" Of course we said "Waterslides"! Mom and Dad said "OK", so we went. They said we had to grab a mat first. My sister, my mom, and I stayed there for about two hours, while Dad stayed at the campsite with Patchy. We dried off and went back to the campsite. We were surprised Dad actually had a fire ready for us to roast hot dogs. It was our last day to camp, so that's what made me sad. We roasted hot dogs and put them on a plate. We turned around for six seconds. Next thing you know, the hot dogs were gone! We looked at the dog. She was eating a hot dog! So we just went to bed. The next morning, we woke up and packed. We finished packing and went home. That was a great vacation.
